After losing to Australia (0–2), Uzbekistan (0–3), and Syria (0–1), India, led by Igor Stimac, concluded their Asian Cup campaign in January with no points and no goals.

The Indian football team’s recent disaster at the AFC Asian Cup, where it lost all three of its group matches, caused it to fall 15 spots to 117th in the FIFA rankings on Thursday—its lowest position in seven years. After landing at 129th place in the January 2017 chart, this was India’s lowest placement to date. The historical worst ranking, though, was 173 in 2015. In the most recent FIFA rankings, which were released on December 21, 2023, the Indian squad was ranked 102nd. From the previous total, India also lost 35.63 rating points. Currently, it is situated between Guinea-Bissau (118th) and Togo (116th). Out of all the Asian countries, the nation is rated 22nd.

After losing to Australia (0–2), Uzbekistan (0–3), and Syria (0–1), India, led by Igor Stimac, concluded their Asian Cup campaign in January with no points and no goals. In the four-team Group B, it came in last.

Due to their continental championships during this time, Asia and Africa were the major players. Argentina, the reigning world champion, continued to lead the group of 10 with no changes.

Argentina is followed in that order by France, England, Belgium, and Brazil.

Champions of the Asian Cup Qatar moved up 21 spots to 37th, while Japan slipped one spot to 18th, but they still dominate the continental rankings.

Unexpectedly finishing second in the Asian Cup, Jordan moved up 17 spots to take 70th place.
