Archery World Cup: India Surpasses Korea, the Olympic Champions, to Win the Gold

In the first global showpiece of the season, India triumphed 5-1 (57-57, 57-55, 55-53), increasing their total number of gold medals to five.

India achieved a significant victory in archery on Sunday when the men’s recurve team consisting of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, and Pravin Jadhav upset the defending Olympic champions, South Korea, to win the gold medal in the ongoing World Cup Stage 1 here. In a match involving the top two seeds in the competition, the Indians defeated the formidable Koreans without dropping a set because to their cool-headedness. In the season-opening international showcase, India triumphed 5-1 (57-57, 57-55, 55-53), increasing their total number of gold medals to five.

On Saturday, Indian compound archers swept the team events, capturing gold medals in the men’s, women’s, and mixed categories.

Later on Saturday, reigning Asian Games champion Jyothi Surekha Vennam won her fourth gold medal in the women’s compound individual segment, while Priyansh took his first World Cup silver medal in the men’s compound individual section.

India has won five gold medals and one silver in the competition thus far.

Deepika Kumari, a former world number one, is also aiming for gold and will compete in the women’s recurve solo semifinal against her Korean competitor in the afternoon session.

India is also competing for bronze in the recurve mixed team event.
