Ishan Kishan, Mumbai Indians’ wicketkeeper-batsman, has been reprimanded and fined 10% of his match costs for violating the IPL Code of Conduct during their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Delhi Capitals on Saturday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

According to Article 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct. He admitted to the offense and accepted the Match Referee’s penalty. The Match Referee’s decision is decisive and binding in cases of Level 1 Code of Conduct violations.

Jake Fraser-McGurk’s strong innings, followed by Rasikh Dar Salam, Mukesh Kumar, and Khaleel Ahmed’s supercharged pace assault, helped Delhi Capitals (DC) overcome Mumbai Indians by 10 runs in Saturday’s Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 encounter at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

The home team selected Rasikh, who took three wickets in this high-scoring match after entering as an impact substitute. Mukesh also returned with three wickets. Tilak Varma scored 63 runs for MI, while MI captain Hardik Pandya scored 46.

Mumbai’s chase was initiated courageously by Ishan Kishan and Rohit Sharma, who dealt in boundaries. The two smashed Khaleel Ahmed for fourteen runs in the game’s second over, with Kishan hitting three straight boundaries.

Delhi Capitals’ first wicket came from Khaleel, who got rid of Rohit Sharma for eight runs. When Rohit attempted to steal a boundary, he mistimed it, and Shai Hope caught the ball right in the middle of the pitch.

Mukesh Kumar arrived in style in the fifth over, taking Kishan’s valuable wicket for 20 runs. Khaleel took wicket number two, dismissing the formidable Suryakumar Yadav for a just 26 runs. Surya hit a nicely placed shot into midfield, but Lizaad Williams caught it and made an incredible save.

Following a rapid loss of three wickets in a row, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya began their innings cautiously but aggressively. Axar Patel was hammered for 10 runs by the pair, including a masterful maximum from Pandya. In the game’s ninth over, Pandya, who was in scorching form, clobbered Kuldeep Yadav for 19 runs while smashing three boundaries and a six.

After dismissing Pandya for 46, Rasikh Salam Dar gave Delhi Capitals the much-needed breakthrough. Pandya attempted to attempt a massive hit, but his effort lacked time and fell to Mukesh Kumar.

The momentum for MI was maintained by Tim David and Tilak Verma. Tilak reached his half-century in style in 25 balls after smashing a boundary off Lizaad Williams’ delivery.

David was removed for 37 by Mukesh after he was struck for two sixes and one boundary. Mukesh produced an amazing comeback.

Mumbai lost their last hope when Tilak Varma was run out in the final over, despite massive sixes and fours from Luke Wood and Piyush Chawla, respectively, but they were unable to lead their side home.
