A video of an incident involving Lasith Malinga, the coach of the Mumbai Indians, and captain Hardik Pandya has gone viral on social media.
Is everything in the Mumbai Indians camp okay? Some people may not have been overly thrilled with Hardik Pandya’s selection to lead the team instead of Rohit Sharma. Mumbai appears to be in a worse scenario now that they have lost their opening two games of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Social media users have been wondering whether Hardik and Malinga’s relationship has soured after seeing a video. The famed Sri Lankan was pushed aside by the MI captain in the video.
Legendary Mumbai Indians coach Malinga tried to give Hardik a hug after the game, but the captain didn’t seem to be feeling well and pushed the Lankan aside after a quick handshake.
“Toughest soldiers get the toughest test; we are the toughest team in the competition, anyone who could have come close to where we reached as a batting group or just overall are us – let’s make sure we will help each other; worst or good, we will be together,” Hardik told the crowd.
The Mumbai Indians placed Sunrisers Hyderabad to bat first in the match. Travis Head (62 in 24 balls, nine fours and three sixes) and Abhishek Sharma (63 in 23 balls, three fours and seven sixes) both scored fiery knocks to propel SRH to 148/2 in their ten overs.
A quick 48-run stand between Abhishek and Aiden Markram (42* in 28 balls, with two fours and a six) and Heinrich Klaasen (80* in 34 balls, with four boundaries and seven sixes) was followed by a 116-run stand in 54 balls to propel SRH to 277/3 in 20 overs, the highest IPL total ever.
MI were well controlled by SRH bowlers, who restricted them to a solid 246/5 in 20 overs, resulting in a 31-run loss.
