MI fought hard in response to SRH’s 277/3, scoring 246/5 in 20 overs, but the hosts won by 31 runs.

In their Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter on Wednesday, SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Mumbai Indians (MI) put on a runfest, scoring a combined 523 runs at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad. With 277/3, SRH surpassed the previous record of 263 set by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2013 to record the highest-ever IPL total. MI responded with a strong 246/5 in 20 overs, but SRH won the match by a margin of 31 runs.

Following an explosive start by Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan for the visitors, Tilak Varma spearheaded the MI team’s big chase, hitting 64 off just 34 balls.

Along with playing a brilliant cameo of 30 from 14 balls, Naman Dhir, who is still filling the vacuum left by Suryakumar Yadav’s injury, also impressed.

Tim David brought MI even closer in the chase with an unbeaten 42 off only 22 balls later in the order.

To stop the runs from flowing, though, SRH captain Pat Cummins bowled an outstanding spell that saw his team through to victory.

Despite being the only batter with a strike-rate below 150, MI skipper Hardik Pandya did not impress former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan.

Hardik amassed a slow twenty-four off of 20 balls. Hardik was criticized by Irfan, who said that the captain couldn’t bat that way when everyone else in the huge chase had genuine desire.

“If the whole team is playing with the strike of 200, Captain can’t bat with the batting strike rate of 120,” Irfan wrote in a post on X.
