Dilshan Madushanka of Sri Lanka is injured and will not play in the third ODI against Bangladesh.Due to an injury, star pacer Dilshan Madushanka will not play in the third and final ODI match against Bangladesh, according to confirmation from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Sunday.

After suffering an injury, star pacer Dilshan Madushanka has been ruled out of the third and final ODI match against Bangladesh, according to confirmation from Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) on Sunday. Madushanka may also miss the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season opener for the Mumbai Indians (MI), per news sources. The 23-year-old pacer will not participate in the current tour of Bangladesh, SLC revealed on their official X (formerly Twitter) account. The SLC statement further stated that the pacer would go back to his home country and participate in “rehabilitation work”.

Madushanka was hurt on Friday in Chattogram during the second ODI match against Bangladesh.

“After sustaining an injury during the second ODI, bowler Dilshan Madushanka will return to begin rehabilitation work and will not be participating in the current tour.” Madushanka, who left the field while bowling in the second ODI, has sustained a left hamstring injury, which was verified by an MRI on the player, according to a statement from SLC.

Mahinda Halangoda, the manager of the Sri Lankan team, stated that they are unsure about Madushanka’s recovery time after his injuries.

“We only received the report on his injuries today, Sunday, and it indicates a slight tear. This injury is fresh. How long it takes him to heal is still unknown, but the medical staff at the high-performance center will need to evaluate him once again before he returns home. For the time being, we are certain that he will not play in the ODI tomorrow,” Halangoda was cited by news sources.
The third One-Day International (ODI) match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh takes place at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Monday. Given that both teams have won every game in their first two meetings, the final 50-over match will constitute a series.
