Pat Cummins is one of the three Australian stars who will not play in his nation’s T20 World Cup warm-up matches in 2024.

Key players from Australia’s T20 World Cup 2024 roster, including Travis Head, Mitchell Starc, and Pat Cummins, will miss their country’s warm-up matches as they return home for a little vacation before the massive tournament. Cummins, Head, and Starc will return to Australia after playing in the IPL final on Sunday, and then they will rejoin the World Cup team. Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green, who played in the Royal Challengers Bengaluru playoff run, are two of the players who are staying home. Those five are anticipated to arrive when the Australian team departs for Barbados in advance of their first group match against Oman on June 5.

“Having flexibility is crucial. The IPL has been attended by men. As a result of their intense cricket playing, we have made it a priority to give them a few days off so they may visit their families, rest, and prepare for this event. It’s crucial that we give them a rest, even if it’s only for a few days at home, before we reach our 15, Marsh told cricket.com.au.

Marsh expressed confidence that he would be able to play both warm-up matches as a batter. Marsh will captain Australia in a worldwide event for the first time.

“I’m simply finishing off a few tasks so that I may be available and fit. Everything ran smoothly today. It’s been going slowly at first, but we’re finally getting there, and we’re excited to start the tournament,” the elite all-around player continued.

Canada and the United States will play the opening match of the tournament on June 1.

Prior to their Group B matches against England, Namibia, and Scotland, Australia will play their opening match of the T20 World Cup against Oman in Barbados on June 5.

Australia announced their team for the T20 World Cup earlier in May.

Australia squad: Mitchell Marsh (c), Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins, Tim David, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Marcus Stoinis, Matthew Wade, David Warner, Adam Zampa.Travelling

Reserves: Jake Fraser-McGurk, Matt Short.
