Following his incredible performance in the Kanpur Test on Wednesday, October 2, Yashasvi Jaiswal, the youthful opener for India, has maintained his excellent record in Test cricket. The southpaw has now broken into the top 3. Jaiswal moved into his new career-best ranking after overtaking Steve Smith, who had been ranked fifth following the first Test in Chennai.

Jaiswal has been in top form for India in 2024. The opener has scored 929 runs in 8 Tests, with an average of 66.35. Jaiswal would discuss his performances in Kanpur, saying he is always giving his all for the team and that each innings is vital to him.I believe I was only considering what I could do to support my team. Both here and in Chennai, the circumstances were different. I was just doing my best to support my team and doing what I was supposed to. Each and every inning matters.
