On Day 1 of the first Test match between South Africa and India at Centurion, Virat Kohli was removed for 38 runs.

On the opening day of the first Test match between South Africa and India in Centurion on Tuesday, star batsman Virat Kohli of India achieved yet another milestone: he became the best run scorer for India in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2019–2025. The former captain of India accomplished the feat by surpassing Rohit Sharma. 2101 runs were scored by Kohli in 57 innings. While in 42 innings, Rohit scored 2097 runs. With 1769 runs in 62 innings, Cheteshwar Pujara is ranked third on the list, behind only Rohit and Virat Kohli. The next two players on the list are Rishabh Pant (1575 runs in 41 innings) and Ajinkya Rahane (1589 runs in 49 innings), respectively.

Kohli hit 38 runs from 64 balls with a strike rate of 59.38 but was unable to leave his imprint in India’s opening inning. The 35-year-old destroyed the Proteas bowling assault with five fours. He was unlucky, though, as the bowler Kagiso Rabada dismissed the batter in the 30.6 overs.

Recalling the first day of the Test match between South Africa and India at the SuperSport Park, weather played spoilsport, causing most of the third session to be canceled.

Day 1 ended with India scoring 208/8 in 59 overs, with Mohammed Siraj and KL Rahul scoring 0 (10)* and 70 (105)*, respectively, to remain undefeated.

KL Rahul put up a fierce fight the entire time he was on the field. Kagiso Rabada battled valiantly to push India’s score above 200 runs, even if the other batsmen were unable to score too much against him. Siraj also demonstrated patience while dealing with the ten balls.

Jasprit Bumrah was the lone player to fall out of the last session; after 19 balls played, he lost his patience and was bowled by Marco Jansen.
