Veteran Indian star expresses his heartfelt disappointment at not being included in the test team.

Hanuma Vihari, an Indian batsman, wants to finish the Ranji Trophy season strong in order to prepare for a Test comeback. Andhra Pradesh’s success in Elite Group B can be attributed in part to Vihari’s prolific career. With three victories in their last five games, Andhra is presently ranked second. With 365 runs in seven innings, the 30-year-old hitter has been a valuable member of his squad, trailing only team captain Ricky Bhui’s 550 runs scored. He has been able to maintain an average above 50 in domestic cricket thanks to his recent performances.

Though Vihari has had difficulty breaking into the Indian starting XI, he is eager to establish himself in the league and increase his tally of 16 Test appearances.

“I am disappointed and saddened that I have not made the Test team, but everyone has ups and downs, and my current task is to score runs in the Ranji Trophy.” Both for the squad and for me, the season has gone quite well. Thus, after Andhra defeated Bihar, Vihari told ESPNcricinfo, “the goal is to score a lot of runs and try to get back into the Test team.”

In the 2021 Indian Test history, Vihari possibly performed one of the most renowned knocks. His 23* off 161 deliveries in Sydney versus Australia proved to be the Indian team’s game-winning blow.

However, he hasn’t been involved in any of the action lately, and he said that selectors probably aren’t now keeping an eye on him.

“No one has spoken to me recently, but Rahul Dravid did speak to me after my last Test, and he told me what I can improve on, but no, I haven’t been in touch with anyone since then,” Vihari stated.

In his final Test match, held at Edgbaston in 2022, Vihari scored 22 and 11. His current goals are to get better and have fun with his game.

“However, all I consider is how to get better at my game and have fun. There would be no purpose left if I didn’t accomplish it. I simply want to give it my all for the team and score runs when I enter the middle. I don’t have any expectations at this point in my career. I always give it my all when I bat, and the rest will work itself out,” Vihari continued.

On February 9 at the PVG Raju ACA Sports Complex, Andhra Pradesh will now play Uttar Pradesh.
