The truth about Yashasvi Jaiswal selling “Pani Puri” during his formative years is described in the report as “a little stretched,” according to a coach.

In the second Test against England in Visakhapatnam on Saturday, Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved his first Test double hundred, becoming him the third-youngest Indian to do so.

Yashasvi Jaiswal, a prolific opener, became the third youngest Indian player to reach a Test double hundred in his extraordinary career on Saturday in Visakhapatnam during the second Test against England. The 22-year-old, who was playing in just his sixth Test, single-handedly led India to 396 all out in 112 overs on the second day of the contest with a stunning knock of 209 off 290 balls.
The only shining light in a poor batting performance by the home team was the double century he achieved with 19 fours and 7 sixes.

The opposition promptly took note of Jaiswal’s outstanding knock, and when his incredible effort ended in the 107th over of the innings, players from England approached him to offer their congratulations.

In 1993, Vinod Kambli became the youngest Indian player to hit a double century, also against England, with a score of 21 years and 335 days.

At the age of 21 years and 355 days, Kambli broke the record for the second-youngest Indian double century in Test cricket against Zimbabwe.

Prior to Kambli, Sunil Gavaskar, who achieved his first double in the West Indies in 1971, held the record.

Since Gautam Gambhir, he is the only left-hander from India to successfully fetch a double ton in the conventional format. 2008 saw Gambhir return to form against Australia.

On his Test debut against the West Indies last year, Jaiswal had scored 171. at the first game of the series, India lost by 28 runs against England at Hyderabad, despite his 80-run performance.

Only Sachin Tendulkar and Kambli scored several Test scores of 150 or above before turning 23 before Jaiswal.

Together with fellow overnight hitter Ravichandran Ashwin (20), who was removed by James Anderson, Jaiswal contributed another 28 runs to the current game.

After then, in the 102nd over, Jaiswal achieved the milestone by hitting a four and a six off rookie spinner Shoaib Bashir.

Kevin Pietersen, the former captain of England, tweeted on social media, “Jaiswal – one of the greatest stories in world sport!” Maybe alluding to the rising star’s modest beginnings.

After going for a huge shot and being caught by Jonny Bairstow at extra cover off of Anderson’s bowling, Jaiswal was eventually removed from the game.

Jaiswal was from a lower middle class family in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, thus his life wasn’t all sunshine and daisies.

At the age of eleven, Jaiswal, the fourth of six children in his family, traveled from Bhadohi to Mumbai so that he could train at the renowned Azad Maidan.

During his early years, he shared tents with groundsmen of Azad Maidan and made ends meet by selling paani puri by the side of the road.

Although Jaiswal’s story of selling pani puri is widely known and frequently repeated, his early coach Jwala Singh has repeatedly told PTI in interviews that the story is a little exaggerated.

Singh has said that Jaiswal spent the majority of his difficult years residing at his home.

“I find the narrative about selling panipuri to be incredibly annoying. Jwala told PTI in an interview that he plays cricket because he works hard.

Actually, he did dispel the urban legend that is spreading farther and wider every day. A large number of vendors erected their booths close to Azad Maidan. He occasionally helped them out when he had some free time in the evenings. He didn’t put up his own booth. Jwala was ruthless in brushing off the entire “sob story,” saying, “It’s not like he sold panipuris and then played for India.”

As the top run scorer at the 2020 Under-19 World Cup, the young player gained notoriety.
