Suresh Raina rejoined CSK the following season and helped them win the championship after missing the 2020 campaign.

Suresh Raina, a veteran of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), has discussed the much-discussed controversy surrounding his decision to skip the 2020 Indian Premier League (IPL) season in the United Arab Emirates. Despite traveling to the nation with the other players during the COVID-19 pandemic, Raina withdrew from the game prior to its start, claiming personal reasons and COVID-19 bio-bubble arrangements. Regarding Raina’s choice to withdraw, there were a number of explanations. Reportedly, Raina departed from the bio-bubble subsequent to being turned down for a hotel room with a balcony.

Speaking about the rumors, Raina stated that he left the competition to be with his father and other family members after his relatives were killed in Punjab.
“I traveled to Punjab due to a death in the family. There have been deaths in my uncle’s family. The kaccha gang, who appear with grease all over them. My grandma was present when the entire family was murdered by a band of robbers. In Pathankot, it took place. Thus, I visited that location. However, the IPL had a bio-bubble that you were not allowed to leave. My father was furious. My family was under a lot of stress when the Kachche gang did what they did.

In a conversation on Lallantop, Raina remarked, “I thought cricket came next because I could play anytime and first, my family was important.”

Raina went on to say that the pandemic was making matters worse and that the atmosphere back home was chaotic.

Yes, I did inform the team management and MS Dhoni about this. Family is the most important. After my return, we played the 2021 season. The trophy was ours to win. But the family was disorganized the year before. Due to COVID-19, they were all already depressed when this occurred. “I felt that I ought to return home and spend time with my family,” he continued.

Raina rejoined CSK the following year and assisted them in winning the championship after missing the 2020 campaign.

It proved to be his final season when he announced his retirement from all forms of the game later that year.
