In 2023, Mavi was not allowed to participate in any games for the Gujarat Titans. During the most recent auction, LSG acquired him for a whopping Rs. 6.4 crore in order to cover the vacuum left by Avesh Khan’s departure to the Rajasthan Royals.

Due to his inability to fully heal from a rib injury, pacer Shivam Mavi of the Lucknow Super Giants will not be participating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) this season. After his final competitive cricket match in August 2023, the 25-year-old missed the entire domestic season for Uttar Pradesh. However, he did show up for the Lucknow Super Giants’ pre-season training, when he was informed he wouldn’t be playing in this season. In August of last year, he had experienced a stress fracture of his ribs.

“The excellent right-arm fast bowler joined us following the auction in December and has been in camp since the pre-season. He has been an important member of the squad this season, and both us and Shivam are disappointed that his season has ended so early,” according to an LSG press release. Mavi, who has played six T20 Internationals for India, did not play a single game for Gujarat Titans in 2023, and in the final auction, LSG signed him for Rs. 6.4 crore to cover the vacuum left by Avesh Khan, who went for Rajasthan Royals.

Mavi, on his part, promised to return stronger.

“I expected to play matches and contribute to my team, but I had to leave due to injuries. A player must be psychologically strong and understand what areas need to be addressed during rehabilitation. “We have a good team here,” he said in a video released on LSG’s official ‘X’ account.
