On social media, a video of Shashank reaching 50 runs in 25 balls is going viral, and it shows the PBKS camp reacting pretty passively.
In Thursday’s IPL 2024 encounter between the Punjab Kings and Gujarat Titans, Shashank Singh was the standout player. Before Shashank Singh entered the crease, the Punjab Kings top-order stuttered in their 200-run chase and a victory appeared out of reach. As Punjab moved closer to the goal, Shashank and Prabhsimran Singh sewed together some vital stands. After hitting 61 off 29 balls, he eventually finished undefeated as PBKs reached the goal in 19.5 overs.
On the other hand, a video that is making the rounds on social media shows the PBKS camp reacting fairly subtly as Shashank hits 50 runs in 25 balls during the 18th over of the chase. Aakash Chopra, a former opener for the Indian cricket team, chastised the Punjab Kings players for their response.
“There is total silence, itna snnata hai. This fifty has not been acknowledged by anyone. Not even this team (as the camera panned to the Punjab Kings dug out) acknowledged.What is going on, Aisa Kya Chal Raha hai? Out of 50 balls, he has hit 25. He has a 200 strike rate. You’ve survived the competition thanks to him. He is your team’s CPR,” Aakash Chopra remarked in a witty aside.
Shikhar Dhawan, the captain of PBKS, later complimented Shashank’s work. “I’m happy the boys performed well; it was an incredible game that was quite close. The idea was to get off to a fantastic start, but I was out regrettably. Nevertheless, we built up a good combination towards the end of the powerplay, and when Shashank entered, he played incredibly well. Shashank blasted a stunning sixe when he entered the game, and his effortless style of hitting the ball was evident. He began at position seven and is currently displaying his optimistic outlook.
