Rinku Singh is selected for the Duleep Trophy as the BCCI makes significant changes to its squads

The BCCI selection committee chose Rinku Singh as one of the new faces for the Duleep Trophy’s second round matches.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has approved all-round player Rinku Singh for the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024 second round matches. Rinku is a replacement player in the India B team, having been called up to the senior men’s Test series against Bangladesh, replacing players like Rishabh Pant and Yashasvi Jaiswal who were forced to withdraw. The Duleep Trophy’s second round of matches begins on September 12. The India A Captain Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, Dhruv Jurel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Akash Deep have been picked in the Test squad for the series against Bangladesh and will not play in the next round, the BCCI further disclosed in a release.SK Rasheed (Andhra CA), Akshay Wadkar (Vidarbha CA), and Pratham Singh (Railways) have been selected by the selectors to replace KL Rahul, Gill, and Jurel, respectively. Akashdeep will be replaced in the squad by Aaqib Khan (UPCA), while left-arm spinner Shams Mulani will take Kuldeep’s place in the lineup.

Captain of India A will now be Mayank Agarwal.SK Rasheed, Shams Mulani, Aaqib Khan, Kumar Kushagra, Pratham Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan, Mayank Agarwal (captain), Riyan Parag, Tilak Varma, Shivam Dube, Tanush Kotian, Prasidh Krishna, Avesh Khan, and Kumar Kushagra are the updated members of the India A team.

The selectors have picked Suyash Prabhudessai and Rinku Singh as replacements for India B’s Yashasvi Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant, respectively, in the team. In the game scheduled for the second round, fast bowler Yash Dayal, who has also been chosen in India’s team, has been called up for the first time. The team now includes Himanshu Mantri (CA, Madhya Pradesh).

Nishant Sindhu (Haryana CA) will take Axar Patel’s seat when he joins Team India from Team D. Due to a niggle, Tushar Deshpande would not be able to proceed to the second round. Vidwath Kaverappa of India A will take his place.
