In the IPL 2024 match between RCB and SRH, 549 runs were scored overall at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. Check out the records that were broken below.

The Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Sunrisers Hyderabad match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was a run-fest, with both sides hitting more over 250 runs in a T20 match. The Sunrisers Hyderabad broke their own record for the highest team total in IPL history, reaching 287 runs, surpassing the previous mark of 277. In reply, RCB scored 262 runs, led by Dinesh Karthik’s 35-ball 83.

Both sides displayed incredible hitting displays throughout the run-fest of a game that saw numerous records smashed. The bowlers had a memorable evening, albeit not for the reasons that the batters garnered publicity.

List of records broken in RCB vs SRH IPL 2024 match

  1. After surpassing their own score of 277/3 against the Mumbai Indians a few weeks prior, Sunrisers Hyderabad recorded the highest total in IPL history.
  2. The match saw the highest ever total of 549 runs scored in T20 cricket between RCB and SRH. The Sunrisers and Mumbai Indians’ 523 runs set the previous record.
  3. With 22 sixes in the game, SRH’s hitters had the most of any team in an IPL innings. When RCB played Pune Warriors in 2013, they set a record with 21 sixes.
  4. In total, SRH and RCB batsmen hit 38 sixes in the game, which is a tie for the most in any T20 contest and matches the total of sixes scored in earlier this season in Hyderabad and Mumbai.
  5. The combined total of 81 boundaries struck by SRH and RCB batters during the match is also a record for a Twenty20 match. A game in 2023 between South Africa and the West Indies had previously produced the same total.
  6. In a losing cause in T20 cricket, RCB’s 262/7 is the highest score. The record stood until 2023 when the West Indies defeated South Africa 258/5.
  7. With their two league-higher totals, SRH became the first team in IPL history. A little later in the game, RCB joined them.
  8. Four bowlers from the same team went for more than 50 runs in their overs for the first time. In the match against SRH, RCB’s Reece Topley (68), Yash Dayal (51), Lockie Ferguson (52) and Vijaykumar Vyshak (64), all let up more than 50 runs
  9. Throughout the play, the two sides formed almost fifty partnerships. This has never occurred during a Twenty20 match.
