World No. 11 Sindhu led 11–7 at the half and won the match easily, building an amazing eight-point lead.

Ace shuttler from India During the BWF French Open 2024 second round on Thursday, PV Sindhu defeated USA’s Beiwen Zhang 13-21, 21-10, 21-14. PV Sindhu was utterly outclassed in the opening match at the Arena Porte de la Chapelle in Paris, where she lost to Michelle Li of Canada on Wednesday. In the second game, though, the two-time Olympian medallist improved. World No. 11 Sindhu led 11–7 at the half and won the match easily, building an amazing eight-point lead.

In the final, Zhang—who is rated 10th in the world—took an early 4-2 lead with two strong smashes. But Sindhu turned the tables, winning a 34-shot run and using that momentum to win the match in 55 minutes, leveling the game at 5-5.

“I believe that even though I was defeated in the first game, I never gave up and kept coming back. I maintained the shuttle on the court and controlled my blunders in the second and third games. Whether it’s in a competition like the Olympics or at the end of a game, you always want to do really well,” PV Sindhu stated following the game, as cited by Olympics.com.

In October of last year, the 28-year-old made an appearance in the BWF quarterfinals at the Denmark Open.

Now, Sindhu’s attention will be on the People’s Republic of China’s Chen Yufei, the reigning Olympic champion. The Indian shuttler now holds a 6-5 head-to-head record against the second-ranked player in the world, Yufei.
