The PCB stated that the challenging choice was made because of the continuing site construction in front of the ICC Champions Trophy early in the next year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has made the decision to hold the second Test against Bangladesh at the National Stadium in Karachi under closed doors, evoking memories of the COVID-19 era. The PCB stated that the venue’s continuing construction in front of the ICC Champions Trophy early in the next year was the reason for the difficult decision. “We are aware of the significant impact our ardent fans have on cricket, as they serve as an inspiration and source of motivation for our players. But our top focus is the spectators’ health and safety,” the board stated in a statement.
