North Pakistan is said to have threatened violence in relation to the 2024 T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the USA and the West Indies.

With just over a month until the United States and the West Indies host the T20 World Cup 2024, there’s cause for concern as a report from the Caribbean islands suggests that Cricket West Indies has received a “terror threat” regarding the major event. The international cricket tournament is allegedly under threat from the North of Pakistan, which prompted the cricket board to take immediate action and impose more stringent security measures.

According to Jonny Graves, CEO of Cricket West Indies, “we work closely with authorities in the host countries and cities and continually monitor and evaluate the global landscape to ensure appropriate plans are in place to mitigate any risks identified to our event,” he told Cricbuzzon on Sunday.

Pro-Islamic State (IS) media sources have launched campaigns inciting violence against sporting events, including video messages from the Afghanistan-Pakistan branch, ISKhorasan (IS-K), which highlighted assaults in numerous countries and urged supporters to join the battlefield in their countries. The report goes on to claim that the Pro-Islamic State is the source of the security threat.

However, the CWI CEO has informed all participants that security is the board’s first priority.

“We want to assure all stakeholders that safety and security of everyone at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup is our number one priority and we have a comprehensive and robust security plan in place,” Graves stated in a press release.

According to the Daily Express, the threat was received from Pro-Islamic State (Daesh) via the media group “Nashir Pakistan,” which is an Islamic State propaganda outlet.

This year’s Twenty20 World Cup will be hosted in the West Indies and the United States, with the first match on June 1 and the final on June 29.
