World Cup Points Table: Netherlands earns their first victory of the 2023 edition while South Africa suffers their first defeat.

After losing to the Netherlands, South Africa’s progress in the ODI Cricket World Cup 2023 came to an abrupt stop. Few would have predicted the outcome of the Cricket World Cup match going into it, but the Netherlands team never gave up on their ability to upset the world’s top-ranked ODI side, South Africa. In a match that was delayed due to weather, with only 43 overs allotted to each team, Netherlands scored a respectable 245/8. South Africa, in response, could never put together a strong stand and could only muster 207 in 42.5 overs.

South Africa had a net run-rate of +2.360 and was ranked third going into the game. Despite maintaining the same position following the defeat, their net run-rate dropped to +1.385. Currently ranked ninth, Netherlands is the last team remaining in the 10-team table. India remains the table’s leader.
