After a thrilling Asia Cup final, India’s Mohammed Siraj reclaims the top spot in the ICC ODI bowlers rankings.

Mohammed Siraj of India climbed eight places on Wednesday to retake the top spot in the ODI bowler rankings ahead of the ICC World Cup, which begins on October 5. Siraj’s onslaught in the Asia Cup final bundled out Sri Lanka for 50, propelling him to the top of the bowling rankings. With his Asia Cup-winning performance of 6/21, Siraj regained his No. 1 ranking, which he had lost to Josh Hazlewood in March of this year.

Siraj finished the tournament with ten wickets at a 12.2 average. He has surpassed Trent Boult, Rashid Khan, and Mitchell Starc in the rankings.

Mujeeb Ur Rahman and Rashid Khan, both from Afghanistan, raised their rankings to Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. They were the only other people to make it into the top ten.

Outside of that area, South Africa’s Keshav Maharaj has risen dramatically since returning from injury.

After losing the first two games against the ‘Baggy Greens,’ Maharaj helped the Proteas become only the fifth side to win a five-match ODI series.

With his 4-33 in the fifth ODI, the left-arm spinner finished the series with eight wickets at an average of 16.87 and an economy of just 4.07 per over. He has moved up ten spots from his previous career high to place 15th right now.

Additionally, the ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings underwent changes. In the fourth ODI against Australia, Heinrich Klaasen of South Africa played the most devastating ODI innings ever.

No one has ever scored 174 runs at a greater strike rate in an ODI innings than Klaasen did in Centurion.

This resulted in a 164-run victory for South Africa and a 20-place rise for Klaasen in the Men’s ODI Batting Rankings. He is now in ninth place.

Dawid Malan, who scored 277 runs at an average of 92.33 and a strike rate of 105.72 in England’s ODI series against New Zealand, was outstanding.

The hitter is ranked at a career-high 13th place in the ODI Rankings after earlier in his career spending 357 days at the top of the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings.

Ben Stokes, a compatriot of Malan’s who recently came out of retirement, marked his ODI return at The Oval with a magnificent 182-ball innings. Stokes has climbed to the 36th spot in the ODI batting rankings thanks to his impressive performances.
