Mahit Sandhu of India won gold at the World Deaf Shooting Championship, while Abhinav Deshwal takes home silver

India’s total climbed to fifteen, including four gold, seven silver, and four bronze medals.

On the fifth day of the second World Deaf Shooting Championship in Hanover, Germany, India’s Mahit Sandhu won gold in the women’s 50m rifle prone event, while Abhinav Deshwal took silver in the men’s 25m pistol.

India’s total number of medals now stands at 15, with four gold, seven silver, and four bronze.Sandhu won his second gold medal and third overall in the Deaf Shooting Worlds. She previously won gold in the mixed 10m air rifle with Dhanush Srikanth and silver in the 10m air rifle individual event.

She shot 247.4 in the finals, 2.2 points more than Hungary’s Mira Biatovszki. The Indian shooter advanced to the finals after scoring the highest in qualification (617.8).

Natasha Joshi, the other Indian shooter in the running, finished eighth in the final.

Deshwal was defeated by Oleksandr Kolodii of Ukraine in the final series by one point.

After the ninth series, both shooters were tied with 37. In the 10th, Oleksandr shot a perfect five while Deshwal could only manage four to settle for silver.Shubham Vashist and Chetan Sapkal, both Indian shooters, finished fifth and seventh, respectively.

Deshwal had also won silver in the 10m pistol solo, mixed, and team events.
