The Australian cricket team won the final match of the series by 21 runs, and with this, the winning streak of the eight home series of team India came to an end.

The Indian cricket team lost an ODI series at home for the first time since 2019 by 21 runs against the Australia cricket team on Wednesday. Both teams went into the 3rd ODI in Chennai with the three-match series tied at 1-1. Team Australia decided to bed first after winning by a score of 269 runs. In response to this team, India were all out for 248 runs. Former captain of the Indian cricket team Sunil Gavaskar said that team India shouldn’t forget this defeat before the world cup, as 13 is now separating for the Indian Premier League, which starts on March 31. He also said that the exceptional skills of team Australia created enough pressure for the batters of team India to make mistakes.
Gavaskar said on Star Sports that “it was the pressure created.” They were not getting singles. The boundaries had dried up, and they weren’t even getting singles. When that happens, you try to play something that you are not used to. That is something they will have to look at. But, of course, now the IPL starts. This shouldn’t be forgotten. India sometimes makes the mistake of forgetting this, but this one shouldn’t be because, in the World Cup, we may face Australia again.
He also said that one of the major reasons for the defeat of team India was the fact that India could not get any big partnerships apart from the stand between Virat Kohli and KL Rahul and the opening partnership between Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill, which was a big reason for their defeat. Kohli and Rahul put up 69 runs for the third wicket, while Rohit and Gill made a 65-run opening stand. Only Kohli scored a half century for the India cricket team, scoring 54 runs out of 72 balls.
Gavaskar further said that, “When you are chasing a score of 270 or nearly 300, you need a partnership of about 90 or 100, and only that will take you close.” But unfortunately, that didn’t happen. Yes, there were a couple of partnerships, one between Rahul and Kohli, but then you wanted another similar or bigger partnership. Fielding from Australia was outstanding. Their bowling was very good. It was tight, stump to stump, but their fielding was very good. That was the difference.
