Friday’s encounter at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium saw LSG defeat CSK, the reigning champions, by eight wickets while playing at home. Rahul and Ruturaj each received a 12 lakh punishment because it was the team’s first offense of the season in relation to minimum over-rate offenses under the IPL’s Code of Conduct, according to an IPL statement.

“Mr KL Rahul, Captain, Lucknow Super Giants has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during Match 34 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Chennai Super Kings at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow,” said the IPL.

With elegant fifties on a sluggish pitch, openers Rahul and Quinton de Kock led LSG to a convincing victory over CSK with their chase masterpiece.

Ravindra Jadeja was asked to bat first, and he responded with a strong unbroken fifty-seven. Then, Moeen Ali (30 off 20) and Mahendra Singh Dhoni (28 off 9) went on a six-hitting rampage, taking CSK to a formidable 176 for six.

In response, LSG amassed 180 for 2 in 19 overs to overcome consecutive losses and solidify their place in the standings. Rahul (82) and De Kock (54) batted with power during their match-winning combination of 134, the best partnership for any wicket at the Ekana Stadium. On the other side, CSK, who entered the game with two victories, suffered their third IPL defeat.
