and Prasidh Krishna is back from a protracted injury absence

As speedster Jasprit Bumrah is set to make a comeback in the Ireland series, Team India under Rohit Sharma has earned a huge boost in their ICC World Cup 2023 preparations. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) revealed the Men in Blue team for their tour of the United Kingdom (UK) on Monday. The Indian pacer will captain the visitors in the next series.

Bumrah, who missed the entire Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Asia Cup 2022, and T20 World Cup, was thought to be nearing the end of his recuperation. In New Zealand, the Indian pacer needed surgery for a lower back stress fracture. After undergoing back surgery in March of this year, Bumrah was rehabilitated at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The BCCI made the big news about Bumrah’s return after board secretary Jay Shah intimated that the great pacer would be in the Indian squad for the Ireland series.

Bumrah teased his much-anticipated World Cup comeback with a video of him bowling full force at the NCA. The premier bowler last played an ODI in July 2022. Bumrah’s most recent international outing came in a T20I against Australia last September. The Indian fast bowler had a forgettable outing, recording his lowest T20 stats (0/50) at the time. Bumrah then opted out of the South Africa series at home before missing the Asia Cup in the UAE and the entire T20 World Cup in Australia last October.

India’s squad for Ireland series:

Jasprit Bumrah (Capt), Ruturaj Gaikwad (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (wk), Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shivam Dube, W Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan.
