After losing against the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL 2024 match, Preity Zinta, co-owner of the Punjab Kings, experienced a range of emotions.

In the Punjab Kings’ Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, Saturday’s encounter against the Rajasthan Royals was a repeat of the previous one, as the team lost its fourth out of six games. After a run of disappointing performances, Shimron Hetmyer’s late blitz proved to be the decisive factor that sent the Royals home. Not only was co-owner Preity Zinta disappointed with PBKS’s three-wicket loss in the game, but so were the team’s supporters. In actuality, her attitude shift from the beginning to the completion of the game encapsulated the success of PBKS’s effort thus far.

As PBKS narrowly lost to RR, Zinta, who usually attends the team’s home games, couldn’t contain her annoyance.

Despite their lack of success at the bat, PBKS’s stand-in captain Sam Curran acknowledged that his team had adjusted well to their new home stadium in Mullanpur based on the tight games they have played there.
With five victories and a defeat, PBKS’s IPL campaign took another knock as they lost to RR at Mullanpur by three wickets. This result sent the Men in Pink to the top of the points table. After the close game, PBKS has two victories, four defeats, and is currently ranked eighth. Instead of Shikhar Dhawan, who was hurt, Curran commanded PBKS. This season, Mullanpur Stadium will serve as PBKS’s home field rather of Mohali’s PCA Stadium.
“We batted poorly to begin with and didn’t finish well in the end, despite the pitch being a little slow. The bottom order gave it their best go; they bowled well and kept them down, but we lost by a narrow margin. They were really near to reaching 150. We fielded, bowled, and adhered to our strategies, but I have faith that we will win the next game.
It takes three games to fully adjust to the new conditions, but we have done a great job of it. We won the first game and lost the other two by slim margins (two runs and three wickets), which is difficult to accept, but the boys will be encouraged by our recent performance,” Sam remarked.
