On Wednesday, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) decided to have joint flag-bearers for the continental championship.

The flag-bearers for the Indian team at the Asian Games opening ceremony in Hangzhou on September 23 will be boxer Lovlina Borgohain, an Olympic medalist, and hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh.

On Wednesday, the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) decided to have joint flag-bearers for the continental championship.

There are currently 655 Indian athletes competing in the Asian Games, which is the greatest number ever.

Boxer Lovlina Borgohain and hockey captain Harmanpreet Singh will serve as the flag bearers this time, according to Bajwa, who is also the president of the Wushu Association of India.

Neeraj Chopra, a prominent javelin thrower, performed the honours at the Asian Games opening ceremony in Jakarta in 2018.

At the Olympics in Tokyo, Lovlina took home a bronze medal in the 69kg division. She took first place in the 75kg division of the World Women’s Boxing Championship this year in New Delhi.

One of the top drag flickers in the world, Harmanpreet was a member of the team that broke the Indian hockey team’s more than four-decade-long Olympic medal drought by winning the historic bronze medal at the Tokyo Games.

In order to guarantee automatic qualification for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the Indian men’s hockey team would be aiming for a gold medal at the Hangzhou Asian Games. Four deputy chefs de mission will assist Bajwa at the Asian Games because the position carries a lot of responsibility.

The wrestling ad hoc committee was established by the Indian Olympic Association, and Bajwa serves as its chairman.
