On August 3, India (IND) will face West Indies (WI) in the first T20I match of the India Tour of West Indies at the Brian Lara Stadium in Trinidad. Both sides appear to be in good form in this format recently, having won three of their last five meetings. India would still begin the tournament as the favoured.

In their previous match, India won the toss and decided to bat. Though India lost Ishan Kishan early, Shubhman Gill seemed in a completely different mood and hammered every bowler who came his way. Other players successfully assisted him, and India recorded a massive total of 234 runs thanks to his undefeated century. In response, New Zealand was absolutely broken by such a massive target in front of them and fumbled their way. They were bowled out for a paltry total of 66, and India won the match by a massive margin of 168 runs.

West Indies last played South Africa, who won the toss and chose to bat. When they were called to bat, the West Indies got a good start and were quickly gaining ground in the match. West Indies posted a massive total of 220 runs thanks to the quickfire efforts of Nicholas Pooran and Romario Shepherd. With their entire batting unit steaming up, South Africa appeared to be in for an easy task as they began their run chase. However, the West Indies took several important wickets and gripped the match at the very last moment, winning by seven runs.
