India defeated England by 100 runs in its sixth World Cup 2023 match. With this victory, the Men in Blue extended their winning streak in this World Cup.

India and England squared off today at Lucknow’s Ekana Stadium, with the Men in Blue winning by 100 runs. In today’s game, England won the toss and elected to field. They restricted India to 229/9 in 50 overs. Despite Rohit Sharma’s good start, the Indian innings was marred by repeated wicket losses, most notably Virat Kohli’s rare World Cup duck. Skipper Rohit Sharma batted brilliantly and teamed with several teammates but fell 13 runs short of a century, leaving at 87. Surya Kumar Yadav and KL Rahul scored a few runs, giving England a solid target to chase.

Mohammed Shami took four wickets to send Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, and Adil Rashid back to the pavilion. Jasprit Bumrah took important wickets of Dawid Malan, Joe Root, and Mark Wood, while Kuldeep Yadav took the wickets of Jos Buttler and Liam Livingstone. Chris Woakes’ wicket was taken by Ravindra Jadeja.

With today’s victory, India moved from second to first place in the points standings, while England, who had been at the bottom, remained there with just one win in six matches. Cricket enthusiasts were quick to tweet celebratory posts after India won a nail-biting match against England.
