Australia defeated the title favorites, who were on a 10-match winning streak, to win their sixth World Cup final by outwitting India on numerous fronts.

In the Sunday Cricket World Cup final, Australia chose to bowl first, shocking Ravichandran Ashwin, who still applauded selector George Bailey and Pat Cummins for their accurate evaluation of the Ahmedabad surface. The World Cup final was contested at the largest cricket stadium in the world, and Australia won their sixth World Cup by outwitting India on numerous fronts. The title favourites had been winning 10 straight matches.

“Australia was virtually flawless in the championship game. Their techniques shook me to my core. In his most recent YouTube video on Thursday, Ashwin said, “Australia has personally misled me. Based on their past, they always say, ‘We are going to have a bat, mate!’ after winning the toss in the big finals.”

“I was praying to the lord that Australia should do that, because many people do not understand that the soil in Ahmedabad was like Odisha’s, as in, it played like how any soil taken from the eastern part of the country would play — if every pitch gets bounce until the knee, this would get bounce only up to the shin,” he stated.

“The bounce will be less, but the soil won’t disintegrate because the clay does not release the moisture, but holds it,” said Ashwin.

Ashwin gave an explanation for his surprise at Australia’s strategies, but he also mentioned how India has become a global “cricket hub” because of the quantity of bilateral series and the Indian Premier League, which provides foreign players with information about pitches and circumstances.

“I was checking out if the pitch was disintegrating at the mid innings and I met George Bailey, the chairman of selectors and asked ‘why didn’t you guys bat first like you always do after winning the toss?’,” he stated.

“For that he answered back, ‘we have played IPL and bilateral series for a long time now, and in our experience, the red soil disintegrates, but the black soil gets better to bat on under the lights’,” he remarked.

“Dew is not a big impact in red soil pictures, whereas black soil pitches are good turners in the afternoon, but in the night, the pitch solidifies into a paata wicket and plays as though it is made of concrete,” he went on to say.

“I was flabbergasted listening to that, seeing all the experience from the IPL and bilateral series, and India becoming a central hub of world cricket,” Ashwin added. “They have a perfect pitch reading,” he remarked.
