On Friday, when India plays Ireland in the first T20I, Jasprit Bumrah will compete in his first international game in almost a year.

Everything is ready for Jasprit Bumrah to rejoin the Indian team. The famed pacer will be sporting the India jersey once more in an international game after a break of 326 days. But for Bumrah, who will soon become the 11th player to captain the Indian men’s cricket side in T20Is, the Ireland T20Is are particularly meaningful. The star bowler will attempt to break a long-standing Indian record by taking the most wickets in final overs when India plays Ireland in the opening game on Friday.

Currently, Bhuvneshwar Kumar holds the record with 36 wickets for India in the final four overs (overs 16 to 20). With 35 T20I kills thus far in death overs, Bumrah is only 2 wickets away from passing Bhuvi on the list.

In the exclusive list of Indian pacers with the most T20I victories overall, Bumrah would like to surpass Hardik Pandya. Currently, Burmah has 70 wickets under his belt while Hardik has 73. The top fast bowler on the list is Bhuvneshwar, who has 90 career wickets.

Since making his international debut in January 2016, Bumrah has been India’s top pacer in terms of wickets taken across all formats. In the list of the top wicket-takers for India across all formats since 2016 among all bowlers, he is only slightly behind spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.

Over time, the star seamer has consistently been the best fast bowler for the nation in all formats. Regarding the selection of the ODI World Cup squad, his performance in the series against Ireland would be crucial.
