Hearts are won over by Rishabh Pant when he explains why Bangladesh was given a field

While batting in the Chennai Test, Rishabh Pant set the field for Bangladesh. He has described the reasoning behind the act.

Rishabh Pant, India’s swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman, once again demonstrated his love for Test cricket. Pant’s century against Bangladesh in Chennai propelled him back to his best in whites. However, it was not just his strokeplay that drew everyone’s attention. The wicket-keeper batsman was also seen laying the field for Bangladesh during one instance, an action that MS Dhoni previously performed on the field. After the contest, Pant was asked about the behavior, and he gave an astonishing explanation.

“First and foremost, I keep talking to Ajay bhai off the field. He states that “the quality of cricket should keep improving.” Wherever you are and who you are playing against. I noticed that there was no fielder (midwicket). I spotted two fielders in the same place. So I advised them to relocate one fielder to the midfield,” Rishabh stated after the game.

Even when it’s the other team’s ear, it’s always in the captain’s!

Pant scored his first century in a Test since he resumed playing cricket in December 2022, following his recovery from injuries sustained in a near-fatal vehicle accident.

Because of the centuries-long efforts of Shubman Gill and Pant, India set Bangladesh the enormous goal of chasing 515. Although the tourists got off to a good start, they lacked the necessary gas to finish the trip. At Chepauk, they were bowled out for 234 in their second innings.

“I love playing in Chennai, so 100 was really special to me.” I wanted to play all three forms after being injured, and this was my first Test match. Pant expressed his desire to improve daily following India’s 280-run victory.

It was an emotional game; I wanted to win every match, which I didn’t, but I also wanted to perform well in the tests because that’s where I really belong. More than anything, I enjoy being on the field.” Even after hitting a hundred runs, I still get anxious before games. I felt nervous because it was my first time playing in two years,” he continued.
