Joseph made an immediate impression in his first series in Australia earlier this year, taking five wickets in his first test in Adelaide.

Rapid-fire bowling experience Former captain Chris Gayle suggested that Shamar Joseph should be brought up quickly in the West Indies ranks for the domestic T20 World Cup in June.
With a five-wicket haul in his first test in Adelaide earlier this year, Joseph made waves in his Australian debut series.

The West Indies won their first test match in Australia in 27 years because to him, and he then put on a fantastic show in Brisbane, when he bowled with a fractured toe and collected 7-68.

Despite having just participated in two domestic Twenty20 tournaments, Gayle believes that Joseph’s firepower will be crucial for the West Indies in the FIFA World Cup.

Gayle told Reuters over the phone on Tuesday, “He’s strong, he should be in the squad,” at the T20 World Cup trophy tour launch in New York.

“Having the two Josephs there will be great, as we already have Alzarri Joseph.” He would need to be on this team in case someone got hurt, even though they might not play at the same time.

“The selectors will benefit from having this headache.”

Although the West Indies did not advance to the Super 12 stage of the 2022 World Cup in Australia, they have won a number of series against South Africa, India, and England in the previous year.

They have a coach in Daren Sammy, who led the West Indies to T20 World Cup championships in 2012 and 2016, who understands what it takes to win a global prize.
