The Eden Gardens was in full swing with the ICC World Cup starting on October 5.

A significant fire broke out in Eden Gardens, one of the venues for the big competition, just before the ODI World Cup 2023. According to accounts from the area, the fire started in one of the dressing rooms of the storied stadium in Kolkata.

Several ODI World Cup matches, notably the South Africa-India match on November 5, are scheduled to take place at Eden Gardens. On November 16, the second semifinal will also take place there.

A local newspaper, Sangabad Pratidin, said that the fire started about 11:50 p.m.

The fire was first seen by the ground crew at the stadium emanating from the changing room on the “away end.” The restoration work, according to the claim, was taking place outside the dressing room. According to the investigation, smoke also came from the dressing room’s artificial ceiling. However, a fire brigade was called, and the fire was quickly put out.

During the World Cup 2023, the renowned Eden Gardens will host six games, including the second semifinal on November 16.

On November 5, India under the leadership of Rohit Sharma will play South Africa at Eden Gardens, while Pakistan and Bangladesh will square off in the venue’s inaugural game on October 31.
