In the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, Shardul Thakur took eight wickets in total. A bowler never took more.

With 8 wickets in three games, Shardul Thakur, an all-rounder and fast bowler for India, finished the ODI series against the West Indies atop the standings for wicket-taking. After the 2019 ODI World Cup, Shardul has taken fifty wickets, and his effort against the West Indies on Tuesday brought him to that milestone. It is interesting to note that Shardul is the only Indian bowler to have taken 50 victims throughout this time. Those who come behind him include Yuzvendra Chahal (37), Kuldeep Yadav (46), and Mohammed Siraj (43).

Many of the best players rested for the ODI series between India and the West Indies. The batting unit was without the veterans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma for the second and third ODI teams, while players like Mohammed Shami and Moahmmed SIraj didn’t participate in any of the three games.

Shardul asserted himself by becoming India’s leading wicket-taker while some elders were absent.

Shardul acknowledged at the conclusion of the game that he was happy with his series’ results.
“I am pleased to have taken eight wickets during this series. A cricket player will often perform when given the chance, but occasionally they won’t.
Shardul said following the game, “Whichever series I play it usually increase my confidence since I am only adding experience to my profession.
In the press conference following the game, he remarked, “I never consider that I have to play to clinch my spot because I can’t play with that mentality and I am not that type of player.

Shardul’s chances of being selected for the Asia Cup and the ensuing World Cup have increased thanks to his performance in the ODI series. The competition for spots in the team, though, will be intense with Jasprit Bumrah expected to make a comeback.
