Cricket Australia revealed on Monday afternoon that Maxwell had experienced a mild aggravation to his left ankle during the team’s first training session in Durban.

The 34-year-old Victorian was already slated to miss the ODI series against South Africa due to paternity leave having being out for several months last summer after fracturing his fibula.

National selection Tony Dodemaide said in a statement that “we are taking a precautionary approach” because Glenn was already scheduled to return home the following week.
