Mitchell Starc expressed his excitement about wearing the KKR jersey during his IPL comeback.

Mitchell Starc, an Australian bowler, is ready to return to the Indian Premier League (IPL) after an eight-year absence. During the IPL 2024, Starc became the most expensive player in the history of the player auction as KKR paid a staggering Rs 24.75 crores for him. The bidding war for Starc was launched by the Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, but both teams backed off as the price for the lanky pacer approached Rs 10 crore.

Remarkably, Starc was also traded to KKR prior to the 2018 Indian Premier League; but, the Australian pacer chose to withdraw from the competition due to an injury. He last competed for RCB in the 2015 Indian Premier League.

Speaking about his IPL return, Starc expressed his excitement about donning the KKR uniform.

Eight years, I believe. Returning to my intended location at KKR in 2018. I’ll return there in order to have the opportunity to wear purple and gold. I suppose I don’t remember much from my time with RCB in 2014 and 2015, but I’m eager to dive right in. Clearly, a fresh cast of characters.”A group of guys I haven’t met or had the opportunity to collaborate with previously,” Starc stated in a video posted by cricket.com.au.

The 34-year-old believes that the IPL can be chaotic at times due to its competitiveness, but admits that the cash-rich league is the best franchise-based tournament.

“A couple of individuals, foreign guys, that I’ve played against and encountered. Yeah, it’ll be exciting. It is definitely a new challenge. But, yes, it will be exciting. It’s always a bit of a circus when it comes to the world’s top T20 competition. So, yeah, I look forward to it,” he said.Starc, 34, has previously prioritized international duty above the IPL, but has decided to enter the auction with one eye on the T20 World Cup, which follows the IPL.

He has only played two IPL seasons, taking 34 wickets in 27 games for an average of 20.38.
