The magnificent innings that Ajinkya Rahane performed on his debut for CSK was the talk of the IPL 2023.

Spinners Ravindra Jadeja and Mitchell Santner helped an injury-plagued Chennai Super Kings (CSK) upset Mumbai Indians (MI) by seven runs on Saturday evening at the Wankhede Stadium. However, the highlight of CSK’s second consecutive IPL 2023 victory was Ajinkya Rahane’s spectacular knock on his debut for the franchise. He not only struck the IPL 2023’s fastest half-century, but he also smashed captain MS Dhoni’s 11-year-old tournament record.

Fast bowler Jason Behrendorff dismissed opener Devon Conway on the fourth delivery of the innings in Chennai’s chase of 158 in Mumbai. Chennai has relied heavily on their opening pair of Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad for batting, as evidenced by their match-winning century stand earlier this week against the Lucknow Super Giants at home. On Saturday, though, Gaikwad received able support from Rahane, who took command of the partnership, leaving the kid as a mere spectator on the other end of the crease.

Rahane struck down uncapped Indian bowler Arshad Khan in the fourth over of the contest, smashing him for 23 runs after relieving the pressure with a six over fine leg against Behrendorff in his seventh ball.
