Spinner Varun Chakravarthy of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) proposed that the cheerleaders should only dance after sixes and not after every boundary hit by the batters during the current Indian Premier League (IPL) season, which is now raging. The number of boundaries crossed during matches in IPL 2024 has significantly grown, with more than 250 scores breached on several occasions this season. Consequently, the cheerleaders have been faced with an excessive workload. Phil Salt led the KKR batsmen in the chase, scoring 68 runs off of just 33 deliveries as the opener.
KKR eventually cantered home in 16.3 overs, raising their net run-rate to 1.096 thanks to the finishing contributions of Shreyas Iyer (33 not out; 23b) and Venkatesh Iyer (26 not out; 23b).
