Bangladesh got off to a victorious start in their campaign, defeating Scotland by 16 runs. In her 100th T20 International, captain Nigar Sultana Joty also had an outstanding performance. Nahida Akter achieved the milestone of 100 wickets in T20Is.

Bangladesh defeated Scotland by 16 runs on Thursday at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, ending their 10-year drought to win a Women’s T20 World Cup match. After defeating Ireland by 17 runs in April of 2014, the Tigresses went on to lose 16 straight games in the mega event and not win a single game in 2016, 2018, 2020, or 2023.Nigar Sultana Joty’s women, nevertheless, managed to win their third game in the tournament’s history against Scotland. With little experience, Scotland gave it their all in their T20 World Cup debut, but ultimately ran out of steam. Against the West Indies on Sunday in Dubai, the Scots will be trying to make apologies.Bangladesh tried their luck at batting first in the sweltering heat, losing seven wickets en route to a humiliating 119 runs. Following her release from Olivia Bell, Murishida Khatun was given a lifeline; however, Kathryn Bryce promptly took her away.Shathi Rani, the opener, and Sobhana Mostary combined for 42 runs for the second wicket to steadie the ship.

Rani, with 29 off 32, was dismissed by Katherine Fraser, putting the two apart. Following her golden duck hunt, Taj Nehar, a debutante, had an awful day. Before Bell took her out, Mostary had played to the sixteenth over, during which she had made 36 off 38.

Saskia Horley, an off-spinner, put an end to Bangladesh’s innings with statistics of 2-0-13-3. In her 100th Twenty20 International, captain Nigar Sultana Joty dropped to No. 5, but she could only muster 18 at a run-a-ball. Despite a 10-for-5 cameo, the Tigresses were unable to score more than 120 runs.Scotland found it difficult to get going and to apply much pressure to the opponents as they attempted to reach the modest target of 120. Horley, who was brilliant with the ball, was dismissed by leg-spinner Fahima Khatun and did not come up with the bat. With two fours, Kathryn Bryce got off to a great start, but tearaway pacer Marufa Akter destroyed her with a gorgeous stroke.
Their top run scorer in women’s T20Is, Sarah Bryce, persevered till the very end, finishing unbeaten at 49 off 52 balls. However, she did not receive enough support from her teammates, therefore her efforts were in vain. Scotland labored so much for the last nine overs that they were unable to score four runs.Nahida Akter of Bangladesh achieved a historic 100 T20I wickets after she removed Katherine Fraser from the game. Ritu Moni was exceptional; her 4-0-15-2 enabled Bangladesh limit their opponents to 103 for seven and establish a strong start to their tournament.
