After New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Maxwell became the second PBKS player to be sidelined after breaking his finger during training.
Following Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell’s finger injury that kept him out of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Punjab Kings (PBKS) head coach Ricky Ponting addressed the team’s injury situation. After New Zealand pacer Lockie Ferguson suffered a season-ending injury at the beginning of the tournament, Maxwell broke his finger during training, becoming the second PBKS player to miss time. The replacements for Ferguson and Maxwell have not yet been determined, according to PBKS captain Shreyas Iyer on Wednesday.Although we haven’t made a decision regarding the replacements yet, we are confident in our team’s mentality and our resources outside of the playing XI. You can win matches with a variety of our athletes. Therefore, we will adhere to that as closely as possible,” Iyer stated during the PBKS vs. CSK toss.
After the game against CSK, Ponting did, however, affirm that “we will be signing some replacements at some stage.”Nonetheless, Ponting attributed the dearth of suitable replacements to the current Pakistan Super League (PSL).
In fact, we have been somewhat patient. Lockie has been gone for two or three weeks, while Maxi has only been gone for a few days. In addition, there aren’t many excellent substitutes available because of the PSL at the same time. We have simply exercised patience. We’re also searching for Indian talent and examining the roles that some younger Indian players might be able to fill.We will be taking a few guys to Dharamsala with us. They trained with us yesterday, and they will accompany us to Dharamsala. We will examine them more closely, and they may end up with a Punjab contract in the future. Stay tuned,” he stated, adding that it must happen this week and before the game on the 12th.
