Umran, a former IPL sensation, will be looking to do well in the forthcoming star-studded Duleep Trophy.

Umran Malik, an Indian bowler, has stated that he feels better after recuperating from dengue and is now focused on training for the Duleep Trophy, which begins on September 5. Umran has now recovered from the sickness and has joined the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru, where he will train for the next domestic season. Umran told ANI, “I am feeling better and am now completely focused on the preparation of the Duleep trophy at NCA. I hope to play well this season for my squad.”

Umran made his international debut for India in 2022 and has since played ten ODIs and eight T20Is, taking 13 and 11 wickets in each format. His highest bowling score in both formats is 3/48.

Umran made his first-class cricket debut in 2021 and has taken 16 wickets in 12 games at an average of 44.62, with his best statistics of 3/25.

Umran rose to prominence during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, taking 22 wickets in 14 games for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at an average of 20.18, including a five-wicket haul. He was the team’s leading wicket-taker and finished fourth overall that season.

The Duleep Trophy, which kicks off the domestic season with red-ball cricket, will feature top India stars from the international circuit as well as young talent battling at the highest level.

The tournament will commence on September 5, 2024, at Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh, and M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru.
