In the first test match of the two-match series, India has defeated Bangladesh by 280 runs.

After going wicketless in the first innings, Ashwin finished with 88 for 6. Ravindra Jadeja (3/58) provided him with capable assistance. Jadeja now has 299 wickets in Test matches.

After Bangladesh reduced India to 144 for 6 on the first day, India made an incredible recovery. To pull India out of the jam, the spin duo Ashwin and Jadeja put up a 199-run seventh-wicket stand.

India dismissed Bangladesh for 149 runs in a one and a half-hour session, captained by Jasprit Bumrah. Shubman Gill and Rishabh Pant combined for 167 runs for the fourth wicket on Day 3 to put India ahead of the pack. However, India chose not to use the follow-on. Pant scored 100 runs off of 124 balls, hitting four sixes and thirteen fours. After hitting his fifth century in 161 balls, Gill finished undefeated.

Day 4: Shakib Al Hasan and Najmul Shanto, the captains of Bangladesh’s overnight batters, applied themselves admirably to withstand Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj’s initial burst. But things changed immediately after the drinks break when Ashwin came introduced.Bangladesh’s innings was swiftly ended by Ashwin, who claimed his 37th five-wick haul, and Jadeja, who claimed three wickets. Najmul received a resounding 82.

Beginning on September 27, Kanpur will host the second Test of the two-match series.
