Following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the BCCI has also made it clear that it will not play Pakistan in cricket.

The terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which killed 26 people in Kashmir on April 22, has been denounced globally for its heinousness. Strong responses have been received from various sources, including sports organizations. A party of unwary tourists were shot at by terrorists from a Lashkar-e-Taiba offshoot in the picturesque Baisaran meadows near Pahalgam, killing 26 people in one of the bloodiest clashes with Pakistan. The Pahalgam terrorist assault has also raised attention to cricket between the two nations. For the past ten years, India and Pakistan have only faced off in continental and ICC (International Cricket Council) cricket competitions. In 2012–2013, the two sides last faced off in a bilateral series match. Anywhere in the world, cricket matches between India and Pakistan always attract large crowds. In the group stages of every ICC and continental event, the two teams are almost usually paired together to attract the most attention. However, following the terrorist assault in Pahalgam, there were rumors that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had written to the ICC to request that India and Pakistan not be placed in the same group at future international competitions (such as the World Cup and the Champions Trophy).

However, according to a news report, such was not the case. “A senior BCCI official also stated that he was unaware of this development. It stated, “As of right now, there is no truth to the speculation, but the BCCI authorities are sensitive to the prevailing national mood.”

This year’s big men’s ICC event is cancelled. India will host the Women’s World Cup in September and October. According to previous agreements, Pakistan has qualified for it and will play its matches at a neutral location. India is the designated host of the men’s Asia Cup, which takes place before that. Additionally, a neutral location will host that competition.
